Grief and Loss
Complex grief, also known as prolonged or complicated grief, is a type of intense and prolonged sadness that persists long after the loss of a loved one or pet. Unlike typical grief, which gradually lessens over time, complex grief can involve persistent, overwhelming emotions and difficulty accepting the loss. People with complex grief may struggle to return to their usual activities, feel stuck in their mourning, or experience intense longing for the deceased. This type of grief can significantly impact daily life and may require additional support or therapy to help navigate and heal from the profound loss.
I can help clients overcome complex grief by providing a supportive and empathetic environment where individuals can process their intense and prolonged feelings of loss. Through therapeutic techniques, such as grief counseling or cognitive-behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Interventions, I assist clients in understanding and expressing their emotions, developing coping strategies, and gradually adjusting to life without their loved one. By working together to explore the unique aspects of their grief, I help clients find meaning, rebuild their daily routines, and ultimately move towards healing and finding a new sense of normalcy.
